Nature in all it's glory!
Right now is an ideal time to take your child on a nature walk! Spring is in the air, many animals are coming out of hibernation, birds are coming back into town and beginning to build their nests and feed their young! Take some time today and go on a walk! Try to find someplace that has many different habitats to explore. For example, try a park that has a stream or pond (or both!) but that also has trees around and a grassy area! Talk to your child while you are walking. Ask them questions about what they see and what kinds of critters may possibly live in each section. Look for the different types of birds and talk about what they are doing. If you are someplace where there are ducks look at how they are interacting with each other. See if you can come up with a story together based on what you see or each one of you come up with your own story and share them with each other! See if you can spy any bird's nests and talk about what they are made with. If you are collecting "treasures" to take home with you make sure you collect what has already fallen off and is not attached. Try to also be mindful that you are in a habitat while you are collecting. Have fun!
